Purpose of Programme

The purpose of SPIP (Separated Parents Information Programme) at Freedom is to support parents to move from conflict to cooperative parenting, centered on the needs, safety and emotional development of the child. The program helps parents understand how separation affects children psychologically and behaviorally, and how adult conflict can escalate emotional distress and insecurity.
Freedom’s approach places equal importance on emotional insight and practical change. Parents are supported to reflect on patterns of interaction, develop self-regulation skills and learn how to communicate constructively, even in high-conflict situations. The program does not focus on blame, punishment or enforcement; instead, it equips parents with tools to understand their child’s needs and respond in ways that promote emotional safety and attachment security.
Our clinical and safeguarding expertise enables us to work confidently with families affected by complexity, including mental health difficulties, neurodivergence and behaviors that challenge. SPIP is designed not just to improve relationships now, but to lay the foundation for healthier co-parenting into the future.
Additional Resources
SPIP is complemented by a range of optional additional services that families may find beneficial alongside the programme, including:
• Life Story Work – supporting children and parents to make sense of family experiences and create a positive narrative moving forward
• Family coaching and therapeutic support
• Supervised, supported and indirect contact services (NACCC accredited)
• Specialist autism and learning disability support (CQC registered)
• Parenting support and emotional wellbeing interventions
• One-to-one child-focused support and mentoring where appropriate
All additional services are carefully matched to individual family needs.
Safeguarding Measures
Safeguarding is embedded within every aspect of SPIP delivery. Freedom operates robust safeguarding frameworks, aligned with statutory guidance and national best practice. All staff receive safeguarding training and follow clear procedures for managing concerns, recording incidents and escalating risk appropriately.
We maintain close liaison with local authorities, courts, schools and health professionals where required and operate transparent information-sharing protocols. Risk is assessed dynamically, not just at referral, and reviewed regularly to ensure ongoing safety for children and parents.
